About Fr. Dn. Michael
The Reverend Father Deacon Michael Miles and his wife Shamassy Mary, Vivian, made their journey East to the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America in 2000 and were Chrismated in 2001. Dn. Michael completed the St. Stephen’s House of Study program and was ordained by Bishop Basil in 2005. He was assigned to St Basil Church in Metairie, Louisiana. Following the hurricane Katrina flooding and subsequent 6-month rebuilding of St Basil, services were held at the Deacon’s home in Grand Point, Louisiana.
Dn. Michael was born in Ontonagon, Michigan. He graduated from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan and holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering. During his career, the Deacon has held positions in design, construction, and maintenance of facilities in the petrochemical and aluminum industries.
Upon the Deacon’s secular retirement in 2010 he and his wife moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near their family; son Ruston Miles, daughter Melissa Migliore and grandson Grayson Migliore. Bishop Basil granted the Deacon’s reassignment to the Diocese of Wichita and Mid- America. He presently serves at St Antony Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Deacon and Shamassy are avid RV travelers and have visited many Orthodox Churches across the United States and eastern Canada.
